Damson Plums or Plums in Vinegar

  1. Wipe the ripe damson plums or blue plums clean with a cloth.
  2. Bring the wine vinegar with the sugar to a boil; as soon as it is clear, add the plums and let them boil 2-3 times.
  3. Remove with a slotted spoon, place in jars, and layer a little whole cinnamon and cloves between them.
  4. Let the vinegar reduce a bit more, then pour over the plums once cooled.
