Fried Eggs
4 servings
Ingredients
- butter (a little)
- eggs (as needed)
- salt (a little)
Instructions
- Fried eggs turn out best in pans with indentations; set eggs become particularly tender in a water bath in designated pans.
- Heat the butter in the pan, carefully crack in fresh eggs so that each remains whole, and sprinkle with a little fine salt.
- Bake until the egg white is thick, basting with melted butter or covering with a hot lid; they are not flipped.
- Slide onto a dish, trim the edge smoothly, and garnish with spinach or similar vegetables.
- Fried eggs can also be served as a standalone dish for breakfast or dinner.
Modernized from a treasured 19th-century German cookbook.
