Polenta from Cornmeal
4 servings
Ingredients
- 1 l Water
- 250 g Cornmeal
- Salt (a little)
- Parmesan cheese or toasted onion slices (as needed)
- Butter (brown) (a little)
Instructions
- Stir the cornmeal and a little salt into 1 liter of rapidly boiling water.
- Make a hole in the center of the mixture with a thick wooden spoon handle, allowing the water to boil up through it.
- After 10 minutes of cooking, remove from heat, stir into a thick porridge, and let stand, covered, in a moderately warm place for another 15 minutes.
- Using a metal spoon, cut large pieces, place them on a hot dish, and sprinkle each layer with Parmesan cheese or toasted onion slices.
- Finally, pour brown butter over it.
