Fruit Pudding

Ingredients
- 500 g stale white bread
- 0.75 l milk
- 125 g butter
- 6 pcs eggs
- 175 g sifted sugar
- lemon peel (a little)
- 500 g sour apples or sour cherries, sliced
Instructions
- Soak the thinly peeled white bread in milk and stir with the butter over the heat until it detaches from the pot, then let it steam off.
- Stir in 75 g of the sugar, egg yolks, and lemon zest, and finally fold in the stiff egg white foam.
- Layer the mixture alternately with the sliced apples or cherries, sprinkled with the remaining sugar, into the mold.
- Cook the pudding for 2 hours and serve without sauce, only sprinkled with sugar.
