Carthusian Dumplings

Ingredients
- 3 pcs milk buns, grated, halved
- 2 cup milk
- 2 pcs eggs
- 1 tbsp sugar
- lemon zest, mace or cinnamon (a little)
- butter, plenty, for frying (a little)
- compote or wine or fruit sauce (as needed)
Instructions
- Grate the milk buns and halve them.
- Whisk milk, eggs, sugar, and lemon zest, mace, or cinnamon, pour over the buns, and let soak for 2-3 hours.
- Once thoroughly soaked, sprinkle with the grated crust and fry in plenty of hot butter until dark yellow.
- Arrange the dumplings with compote or serve with wine or fruit sauce.
