Fruits in Saccharin for Diabetics (Original Recipe)
4 servings
Ingredients
- 1 kg currants, cherries, strawberries, or raspberries
- 4 g saccharin
- rum (a little)
- 0.5 l water (only for cherries)
Instructions
- For 1 kilogram of currants, cherries, strawberries, or raspberries, dissolve 4 grams of saccharin in a little rum (too much saccharin can result in an unpleasant taste).
- Place the destemmed currants in a pot without water, simmer slowly, gradually add the dissolved saccharin, and stir the mixture once.
- Proceed similarly with strawberries and raspberries.
- For 1 kilogram of cherries, use ½ liter of water, otherwise the process is the same as for currants.
Modernized from a treasured 19th-century German cookbook.
