Meat Tea Steamed
4 servings
Ingredients
- Beef, best, without fat and sinews (as needed)
Instructions
- Cut the best beef, free of fat and sinews, into small, walnut-sized pieces and place them in a clean, wide-necked bottle.
- Cork the bottle tightly, wrap it in a kitchen towel, and place it in a pot with cold water on the stove.
- As soon as the water boils, ensure it continues to boil steadily, adding more boiling water as needed.
- After the meat in the bottle has cooked for about 4 hours, remove the bottle, open it, and pour the resulting meat juice through a linen cloth.
- The meat tea is given to the patient by the spoonful as prescribed.
Modernized from a treasured 19th-century German cookbook.
